The highest mountain in Sri Lanka, situated 7 km away from the Nuwara Eliya town. Its peak is 2,524 meters high, with an altitude of 8,292 feet above sea level.

A most valuable and resplendent Forest Reserve, its name is derived from ‘Straw-laden Rock’ because the whole mountain top gets covered with dried grass, looking like straw during dry weather periods.
Pidurutalagala is the watershed area of the streams that feed the picturesque Devon and St. Clare’s waterfalls. The Single Tree View Point and the Golf Club in Nuwara Eliya are clearly visible from the mountain peak.
