This is located 15kms off the Naula Elahera road.  The proposed Moragahakanda reservoir with its ongoing construction is the 4th biggest construction in Sri Lanka and according to the Mahindha Chinthanaya, the Moragahakanda project was initiated at Moragahakanda on 25th of January 2007, by President Mahinda Rajapakse.

There are two reservoirs under one project which are Moragahakanda and Kalu ganga reservoirs.  The Moragahakanda reservoir begins from Amban river, 2 kms from the ancient Elahera anicut (18th kms post off the Elahera Naula road) by constructing a massive embankment along with two small embankments across the Amban river.

The Moragahakanda reservoir being constructed through this spreads throughout an area of 29?sq ft from Moragahakanda towards Naula.  This lake is four times larger than Parakkrama Samudraya which generates a water capacity of 463,000 which also exceeds four times the Kala Wewa.
